IMO, I don't think Stanford -Cal addition lasts. Makes no sense long term
Might a bit better if Wasu and the Beaver were able to join too. Maybe

be to join the Pac-2/MWC entity or Big XII? At least I would think it would be more difficult for the ACC lure new members to bridge the gap given that it would no longer be able to dangle the carrot of being a power conference.

I agree with that. Just having 2 won't be sustainable long term. Oregon State and Washington State turned down the opportunity. They said that they cannot afford to do it.
I think additions would need to come from the Mountain West or American. San Diego State, Colorado State can fit academically. Nevada-Reno is same academic ranking as Louisville possibly.

The ACC Presidents have not shown any interest in offering membership to them with the exception of the Louisville addition. If you watch the SMU President's comments on the day SMU was offered membership he talks about the scrutiny they went through over academics.

that was the reason they were invited. Conference affiliation based on academics doesn’t seem to matter all that much anymore. The “bus” is being driven by TV ratings and lucrative matchups.

Wash St and oregon st could not afford to join the conference with no sharing of ACC revenue for 6 years. and Just couldn't get there WHERE
SMU, Cal and Stanford was willing to join with no revenue sharing for 6 years. (Cal will be fine with the 30 million guarantee from UCLA athletics for the impact of leaving the PAC 12, Stanford budget is bigger than Wash St or oregon st, and they just write checks s as private school (and the same) for SMU.

The B10 had to take OSU and Wash, because we would have, if not.
They are happy with them now, but before the season started that was a hard sell to the B10.
