Lets be blunt, its about the money

Wash St and oregon st could not afford to join the conference with no sharing of ACC revenue for 6 years. and Just couldn't get there WHERE SMU, Cal and Stanford was willing to join with no revenue sharing for 6 years. (Cal will be fine with the 30 million guarantee from UCLA athletics for the impact of leaving the PAC 12, Stanford budget is bigger than Wash St or oregon st, and they just write checks s as private school (and the same) for SMU.

IMO, I don't think Stanford -Cal addition lasts. Makes no sense long term

It will last until Cal and Stanford have a better option. **

If the ACC loses its power conference status, then wouldn't a better option

If ACC loses its top 4 to 6 programs then a merger with the Big12 is likely**

More teams to fill in will be needed to keep that going.

Anyone can play them
HOO86 12/08/23 12:05 PM ET
SMU was willing to donate their TV money to the rest of the conference and

B1G will always care about academics, and they have that luxury. **

Rumor has it that they are interested in FSU who isn’t a AAU member.

Well, college education is kind of a scam too.**

If the ACC had taken Cal/Stan, Ore/OSU, Wash/WS it would have worked.

2036 was too long of a commitment for a second tier conference for UO & UW**
Maroon Baboon 12/08/23 05:15 PM ET
Didn't we try that? The ACC basically forced the B10 to take OSU and Wash.
Truthahn 12/08/23 01:22 PM ET
Ducks and the Husseys never would have done that given the options**
