If the ACC goes to 9 conference games with a 7-7-2 format
Then each team gets 2 opponents they play every year, and then play each of the other 14 teams every other year. Here's my guess at who each team's 2 permanent opponents would be. UNC: NC State & Virginia Duke: Wake & NC State NC State: UNC & Duke Wake Forest: Duke & Boston College Virginia: UNC & Virginia Tech Virginia Tech: Virginia & Georgia Tech Florida State: Miami & Clemson Miami: Florida State & Louisville Clemson: Florida State & Georgia Tech Georgia Tech: Clemson & Virginia Tech Boston College: Syracuse & Wake Forest Syracuse: Boston College & Pitt Louisville: Pitt & Miami Pitt: Louisville & Syracuse Cal: Stanford & SMU Stanford: Cal & SMU SMU: Cal & Stanford ** Edited by tarheelblue at 9/2/2023, 4:28:28 PM

We should go to one regular opponent and rotate through everyone else

The math doesn't work as well.

The more permanent "partners" you have, the fewer times you get to play...
...the other teams in the conference.

9 games happens when the ACC needs another pay bump.
I think we will see 4 + 4/4/4 over a 6 year period moving forward. The ACC needs to load up on games that matter for TV also.

The ACC needs another pay bump now.
But adding a 9th conference game won't add any money. If ESPN wouldn't pay the SEC more to add a 9th game, I highly doubt they'd be willing to pay the ACC more for it.

Would love to play the TechMo Bowl every year. Also want more conference
games. So yeah, deal me in. I'd switch NC State-Duke-GT-Clemson. Let NC State play Clemson (Textile Bowl). Let Duke play GT (they have a LONG series).

Knowing the ACC, Tech will get UVA and Wake...
since Tech is less than a 2 hour drive from Winston-Salem. I personally would like UVA and NC State but that would never work because of the 4 North Carolina schools. IMO, I think Tech-NC State could become a major rivalry. Maybe one day "if" both schools end up in the SEC?
