Thought I’d watch some college football…
On my new Charter Spectrum system and of course they are in a carriage urination contest with Disney. Now ESPN and their family of networks have gone dark. Guess I won’t be watching the Tech game Saturday night. 🤬

Just sign up for 2 day free trial of YouTube TV on Sat. Cancel
after 2 days, then see if there is movement next week.

ESPN needs more money to feed the SEC

As linear cable TV continues its extended death rattle
These carriage and retransmission fee fights are going to happen a lot more often and probably become even uglier. Especially the retrans agreements. These increasingly consolidated local tv companies (i.e. Nexstar and Sinclair) think they are entitled to ever-increasing rights fees to carry their local affiliates on the linear cable lineup despite continuing precipitous declines in cable TV subscriptions. Retrans fees are a large chunk of local affiliate revenues. Something’s gotta give. 🤷‍♂️

Out here in flyover country, I can't get ESPN and the Utes beating
Florida. ANY team, let alone a future B12 team beating an SEC team I'm down for. I get Nebraska, but the BIG sucks these days. Me thinks our game is about to get more expensive to watch.

Have internet? Just stream it and cancel the tv package.

If you have Spectrum then you can't stream espn.
Femoyer Hokie Femoyer Hokie
You can if you use YouTube TV or Hulu Live. Or are you saying Spectrum is
also blocking ESPN’s internet feed?
IB4TECH IB4TECH
Yes I am. ESPN has cut Spectrum off until Spectrum succumbs.

I'm sure you could get ESPN via another subscription service.
You'd just have to pay for said service, such as YouTube TV, Hulu, etc. If you subscribe to one of those services, ESPN is not going to block your access to its content simply because your internet connection is through Spectrum.

On Directv, FOX is out and has been for a couple weeks. No BIG football

Interesting...on my DirecTV, it is my CBS that has been out for a couple of
months now. Haven't actually looked at my Fox channel lately.

That's weird. Maybe it's regional? I was still able to watch Fox Sports
The UCF game was on FS1 last night. So not sure what is going on.

I think it has more to do with the parent company that owns the locals
than it does what network they are broadcasting.

No big deal if you don’t watch BIG sports, which I don’t.
