In typical VT luck, he'll return for that game...
Since I'm going to that game, maybe I'll go into it with the same negative "going to watch Tech get beat" attitude as I did last night. Hey - it worked last night...

Question for @GCHokie34 - What are you seeing against the press
that is giving us so much fits in getting the ball inbounds - much less breaking the press.
It seems to me that this is something that has plagued VT teams even going back to Brent's days coaching. Is it because we don't practice against pressure or are there other things you see that we just aren't doing right.
It seems so simple to say cut harder, move more, etc. but there has to be something that isn't quite right with our execution.
It also boggles my mind that players don't take advantage of running the baseline more when they can.
Thanks

Regarding #1 - I thought I'd turned on a hockey game for a while
Don't think I've ever seen more clutching & grabbing by defensive players...

I totally get it.
I realize that we operate better with him, but also don't want to rush him back before he's fully healthy/ready - that can only make things worse.
Absolutely making whomever your next opponent is have to prepare for him actually playing is the right route to take.
My comment was just me being a general overall smart aleck.

When I was watching, I was thinking
that, while he won't be a difference maker by any stretch of the imagination this year, he does appear to have improved enough to be a servicable substitute to give Poteat some rest.

Pretty sure I saw Wessler hit one as well
The times I caught him moving, he seemed to be a little more fluid than I remember - which could be big.

Why does it have to be soon?
You can actually commit/sign with a program anytime (I think in reality, you don't even *have* to sign - but I could be wrong).
If she's a portal person, the only thing that matters is when they can ENTER the portal - they can exit at any time.

A few thoughts on last night
First, I'm super proud of how these girls competed to the bitter end last night. They never gave up, but it felt to me like we were playing the role of Sisyphus last night. Every time we'd claw back in and tie or briefly take a slim lead, Baylor would spurt out in front by 5-6 points. Tough to get over that hill.
It seemed to me that Baylor was quicker than us when they were on offense and more physical than us on defense. Nothing we haven't seen before, but in the end, we just couldn't get enough shots to fall.
Finally, last night confirmed that I would be a horrible referee - especially in the women's game. From beating the hell out of one another with no call, to touch fouls being called there is just no consistency in the game. But the sealer of the deal for me was Baylor's coach. I would have run her in a heartbeat when she started stomping and screaming and acting like a petulant toddler. It's one thing to yell at an official to get your point across, but to do it in that manner, I would be absolutely embarrassed. I would have T'd her up so fast and if she kept on, I'd have done it again and told her to enjoy the rest of the game from the locker room.

She's going to be reevaluated this week.
Basically, he's put it in the hands of the medical staff.
Liz is rehabbing - think he said 3x/day and it is going well. When the reevaluation happens is up to the medical staff. Could be today, could be Thursday.
Either way, he is doing what is in the best interest of Liz and her future, as he should.

Thought Wessler played a decent game today
It wasn't perfect by any means, but for his stage of development, I think he did a decent job of eating some space and doing a good job giving Poteat a blow.
Seems to move better than I recall from seeing him earlier in the season.

I definitely don't believe that - nor do I believe fans wearing a given
color at a game has any impact on the outcome.
I just don't like the look of them.

Iâve posted this elsewhere, but adding here for discussion
I personally hate the VT on the chest uniforms. I donât mind the logo, just not on the chest of the basketball uniforms. Give me either script or block Hokies or the words Virginia Tech any day.
Thoughts?

Right ... sight lines are a huge factor
You practice in Cassell some (probably not all the time since there is Hahn-Hurst), but enough to be familiar with the lines.
When you go out on the road, you have very limited to adjust to those sight lines. The bigger the arena, the worse it is. I remember in HS having to play our district tournament in Radford's Dedmon Center - our entire team shot like crap because we were all used to high school sized gyms.
It's also why a lot of times events like the Final Four have such poor shooting.

They showed it on replay during the game
He pretty much took a full side/top of a Clemson players foot right to his left (I think) cheek/jaw area.
Just an inadvertent thing, but I'm sure it had to smart.
I'm just as surprised that Long wasn't hurt worse than he was when he fell after his first half dunk. To me, that was a scarier thing.

I remember him talking about something like that.
My memory on how the numbers worked was a little fuzzy, but I definitely remember that and try to think of it in those terms even still.

I think one other thing that people don't seem to realize is...
how extremely HARD it is to win road games in conference.
Winning any road game is hard ... winning conference road games is at least 10x harder.
I mean, look at all of the top ranked road teams that lost on the road just last night!
Think about it ... do you *really* think all those times the Dukes, UNCs, etc. came into Cassell and we beat them that we were the better team? No ... winning conference road games is just that hard, yet some people think that based on what they see over the course of a few random games that Tech should be able to roll the balls out and walk away with a win. It doesn't work like that.

Quick point for @David Cunningham about Georgia & setting screens
Crossing their arms across their chest is the way women are taught to set screens - to protect themselves.
Men protect themselves too ... just differently to protect different regions.

I feel bad for Collins
Heâs doing his best and playing within the system. He just canât seem to get his shots to fall. It seems to me heâs got a good stroke, but things arenât falling right now. Hope he finds his range.

Great job @Will Stewart & @David Cunningham on this
Would be cool if you could come up with a way to make the schedules be in a "tabbed" interface & you click through them. I'm guessing that is not something WordPress supports?

I think it has more to do with the parent company that owns the locals

Haven't actually looked at my Fox channel lately.

at the home gyms of schools participating - just like the ACC/B1G Challenge

I'm thinking what was meant by "Kenny recruits smart" was more
Kenny recruits people he feels he has more of a chance at landing rather than implying that a player is "not smart"

I know that was the case when an overhead scoreboard was discussed before
What I don't understand is with todays technology and things like that being so much smaller & lighter, it would seem like there would be something that would be doable.

He wanted to transfer to VT, therefore, no waiver
probably not the real reason, but the way they hand out waivers to pretty much every other place, it seems to fit their history.

That is what David tweeted...
seems pretty ridiculous to me that the's got 48 hours to make such a big decision.
Hope she got some time to spend with her family to talk it over so she can make an informed decision. That said, I do think I actually agree with Rebecca Lobo that she could benefit from another year in college. But I'm happy for her either way

That he's entering his name into the NBA Draft or that he's not signing with an agent to retain his eligibility...
