Big problem w/ ACC Expansion, less games w/ Clemson, FSU & ND for Cal, SMU
and Stanford. Two schools that don't care about football and one that got the death penalty for football, but at least used to care about football. Almost everyone says these expansions are about football money from compelling matchups, so how do we keep making the same scheduling mistakes over and over again, no matter who the commissioner is at the time. What do many people call that?

You need to go back and watch the SMU 30 for 30
The Pony Express was the greatest show on Turf for about 5 years. The BYU SMU Holiday Bowl was one of the greatest games ever played. I would not underestimate SMU in a new NIL world with P5 opponents.

SMU is capable of rising quickly in the ACC iMO
They have deep pockets and with NIL as you said buy good teams. They got the Death Penalty for doing it in the 80s. Now it's legal. The path will be easier than what Texas and Texas A&M will be facing.

How much say does Whit Babcock have in ACC scheduling?
Losing the annual Miami football game didn't help the ACC. I know Miami didn't want Tech every year. My question is, did Whit fight for that annual game or did he just get along to get along? It seems like Tech has been the obedient child since joining the ACC but some Clemson fans feel the same way about their AD(s). FSU has been the problem child. ;)

Pretty clear at this point that Whit's a cuck

What an absolutely ignorant, childlike post.

Valid point. If the ACC would have given us a decent 3-5-5 schedule that
we'd be expected to give up, I'd be a hard no on expansion. But I'm so used to NOT seeing FSU and Clemson, that I'm indifferent to it. Moreover, if we are ever good enough to beat those two, we will most likely see one of them in the ACCCG.

WVU and Cincy would have brought way more eyeballs if you were expanding!

Most of the board became sold on them.
Some of the reporting says that the ACC ran the models on them, and they didn't work. But I still think for geographic reasons and fan interest, they were the best choices right now. We've talked about getting into Texas for a while now. I'm ok with SMU. I'm not against Stanford and Cal, but they were not targets I had unless we added half the PAC12.

Please next time, you get an idea Jim Phillips, do the opposite, Constanza
made it work, you should too. Are you calling Larry Scott for advice by chance? It sure looks like it.

In reality these adds will not produce excitement. THey are like adding
Rutgers. Blah games

Even more so, they are a complete turn-off to this conference.
For this VT alumnus anyway, adding any of these three teams would be yet another dagger in my college football fandom. Stanford on a Notre-Dame type 5 football game schedule arrangement only? OK. Any sort of ACC membership for any of the three? Nope.

So you would rather play boring BC or Wake for the thousandth time ?
I turn off the tv after the 800 games. I If ANY East Coast ACC team is playing in California at 10 pm, I am watching. I will not watch any of the following match ups: BC, Wake, Duke Pitt at 12 on the ACC Network. If they play Stanford or SMU, I am watching.

We would rather play Clemson, FSU & Notre Dame more, this does the opposite

We Currently have Pitt and Wake as annual opponents
I would give those up for Stanford and SMU in a second.

Sure, but the rotation to play Clemson, FSU & ND got longer that’s not good
We finally have a plan to play them more often, and this makes the games less frequent.

As for the current ACC members...
VT should be playing Clemson, FSU, NCSU on a regular basis, and Miami, UVA and UNC should not be dropping off. Besides GT and maybe Duke occasionally, all the others in the conference can kick rocks.

i see your point, but to me clearly its going to happen. we are going to
expand. We need money and this is the only way to get a little bit more right now. but i'm not sure there is anything we can really do about it until the whole module explodes. in the mean time add schools, get some more money. Especially if the schools we add are taking barely any money ie SMU but they seemed to be so scared of being left behind they will do anything to be included.

So we squeeze money from three faraway programs
Which isn’t much when you divide it so many ways. Think of the obstacles these programs will have budget-wise and recruiting while trying to be a “P5” program. We are adding more doormats to a conference that is not in short supply. Penny wise, pound foolish.

iiwii. nothing we can do about it.
