But think of Wake Forest with much less existing or prospective resources, less local fan base, less an athletic mission/purpose, and less able to recruit top end athletes in all sports, and that can be a start of the argument against.

Because I can take my boat and party the entire way along the Chesapeake. I also want the Redskins (er, commanders) to build a new waterfront stadium with a huge dock and host VT-UVA every year (as long as we're talking about things that will never happen).

Pod 1 - FSU, Clemson, Miami, NC State Pod 2 - UNC, Duke, UVA, VT Pod 3 - Cal, Stanford, BC, UCONN Pod 4 - Pitt, Syracuse, Louisville, Wake Forest Pod 5 - Georgia Tech, Army, Navy, Air Force Lot of great schools and academies on this list. Notre Dame could stay independent and would want to keep playing a lot of these ACC schools. Also lots of good men’s and women’s basketball teams on this list. I put Cal and Stanford with BC and UCONN as the schools are close to major airports in NYC, Boston, or San Francisco. I put Georgia Tech with the academies since they have pretty rigorous requirements for their athletes. The old joke about BC is they think they are Harvard on Monday through Friday and Notre Dame on Saturday. Navy is a national school and shouldn't be stuck on the East Coast. And I'm not sure they want to play an ACC schedule in football or basketball. I don't think there are any good options. But if you want to add four, just take the Pac-4, or go with Memphis, SMU, Tulane and UConn. Four new states for the ACCN. But neither of these moves is going increase money by very much if at all, and it surely isn't going to increase our profile. Small time.

If they can’t schedule USC, ACC, B1G or SEC teams, what are they going to do? B1G and SEC schools could go to 9 conference games and if they do, they will want 3 cupcakes for the remaining games. done nothing wrong at all. I think the Big Ten adding games to NBC will be mutually beneficial. I thought it would end up forcing ND to the conference, but it really won't. Right now, if ND starts scheduling more Big Ten (aside from USC), they'll be on that network a ton. Doesn't matter if they join the conference. But I also imagine NBC may be giving subtle hints that it sure would be nice. Either way, ND is in not going to have issues.

A phone call to the Big 10 and it's a done deal

There isn't a single plausible scenario where B1G takes that call and says, "Nah, we're good." They would expel Penn State if that's what it took to get the Domers.

They won't turn down the B1G money to join the ACC. I would be stunned if ND ever joined the ACC. There are two long-time ND posters on this board (goldendomer and TerryD). Both of them say the same thing. If it all goes down (re: scheduling, access to CFP, or money), ND will join the B1G.

ND isn't going anywhere, any time soon. And no, it is not going to join the ACC in football.

At least that is what has been reported for a number of years. Now, are they bound legally, who knows? If so, can they break that with a huge fee?
