ESPN would probably like to take the best of the ACC and merge it with...
...the SEC, then drop the ACCN (or make it a 3rd SECN channel)?

🏀 expansion voted in by NCAA is bigger than people are giving it credit,
The 96 team tournament, the first rounds until Dynamic Dozen will go to the NCAA to pay for mainly non-revenue sports, but the Dynamic Dozen is going to be paid out like the 🏈 playoff 12. Huge money to the schools and and lesser degree the Conferences.

Geez. We need rid of BC and CUse. Not pampered by SEC

Ratings are back and not cable hook ups, Syracuse playing Georgia or BC
playing Florida would probably pull eyeballs in basketball and decent in football. Deep South schools travel everywhere for games and certainly watch on TV.

I don't ever get the dissing of cuse
They probably have better ratings then half of acc at least, and in the top 3 or 4 in hoops without a doubt

Good point, and they the Jiffy Pop hex on Virginia Tech 🏈😡

That's one way to shut up Florida State
They wouldn't have much to complain about then. SEC might even take them to get access to everyone else in the ACC.

What kills me is that FSU is partly, if not mostly
The reason the ACC has a terrible deal.

Not sure about that. They would complain the B1X is getting more money.

The sec and acc were once in a league together: the old southern conference
Bama, Georgia, uva, unc, vmi, Washington and Lee were all in a conference together. I think at its peak there were 28 teams in the old SoCon, but my memory may be flawed

Not sure at any one time.......
you could be right but, a total of 34 schools were members at one time including names like Elon, Sewanee, Richmond, East Carolina and App State. Of course, it spawned the SEC and then the ACC in 1953. The history is interesting.

Yeah I have been thinking about that for a while, now the Super East Conf!!
Maybe instead of the Southeast Conference. They get to keep the initials they are known by as a Conference.

I bet is only the MAG7 +maybe a OK State

30 teams, that's a massive conference. Don't know how I would even call
That a conference, it's more of a league. Add two more teams to make 32. Then split your league into four, eight team conferences. At the end of the season, have a four team playoff, the winner plays the big 10 champion for the national championship.

Pitt, Cuse and BC in tranche 1? hahahahaha

That was the first thing Jay Bilas said, very interesting to say the least.

Pitt, BC and Syracuse in the SEC?
Certainly you jest!

SEC schools would fill those stadiums, I was there when BC played Clemson,
Flutie wasn't discovered yet, but was playing. It was an amazing atmosphere, off the chart!! The good thing about the northeast schools for the deep south schools, is they have direct flights into the cities and they will take them too.
M
Millpoint
But would they provide to SEC?
Not much.

Those 3 imho will not be included .. Wake will not either.

I am okay if they go to the B12, but I am also okay if they are in the SEC
with us. Syracuse basketball would be a big draw for a lot of schools. BC needs the right coach in football, they were one of our toughest rivals when we both first went to the ACC.

SMH, you guys don't really think that ESPN will
all of a sudden give the entire ACC a $30M raise do you? keep in mind, the SEC has Texas - and they will not stand for it, and I can not see a majority of SEC schools voting for a merger either. I know some of my proposals are off the reservation, but to cabbage on to this rumor is a bit much.
S

I understand, I don't believe anything until it happens, but it sure is
entertaining in the meantime.

29-game round robin schedule. Who says no?

Can't imagine they would take every school, only the minimum number
Required to break the GOR. Would make sense, if they wait until the GOR expires then they will be fighting the big 10 over pieces of the ACC. And ESPN will lose some of those fights. With the big 10 taking over the west coast, the SEC would be smart to make it move on the east coast. They have the advantage of ownership of the ACC network. If ESPN works with the SEC, they can take whatever they want of the ACC. But they'll have to probably take a few pieces They're not as interested in to make it happen. Of course, these rumors could be nothing more than rumors.

If basketball expands and pays out like football, the northeast schools
would be a good acquisition for the SEC. BTW, the NCAA already voted for basketball expansion, it is just up for how they do it. That's why the B12 is talking to Gonzaga and UConn.
H
HOO86
If Basketball comes into play it changes the picture some.
It would then make sense for ESPN to push the ACC to add UConn and Temple to the mix to merge in with the ACC and SEC. I would think they would want to lock down the Philly market as much as they can with Temple. They have also proven they can complete in football if they could somehow protect their coaches from being poached. This would be for basketball. There is still room to increase basketball strength in that eastern corridor.

There are a few blue bloods and brands laying around. SEC though,
is football.
