a chance. I'm sure those renderings have changed multiple times from the original concept to now to align with the project budget and scope of work. Releasing renderings to the public is a very calculated process and strategy based on the actual project budget and design intent. I worked on a stadium in the Midwest that showed a rendering with a "black" roof. The construction documents always showed an unpainted, galvanized metal deck and not "black." Even after the project had been qualified and value engineered as such, the roof ended up being painted "black" because the owner of the team expected that based on the rendering.

Exactly what they saw online 2 years ago. Not that college football fans ever obsess about minor asthetics.

So many coaches and parents do the exact opposite. I am involved in youth sports, and I can pick the winners very quickly, by watching the parents body language. (55% of our communication) I don’t have to hear them say one word. At least 80% are talented enough, the performance under pressure is what makes them or breaks them.

All exposed steel beams and posts, bracing, steel decking ramps. At least the mass of Lane's concrete underbelly skews the sight-lines. They did have pretty awesome stadium food for a cold day.

think the outside is one of the ugliest stadiums I have ever seen. They do a great job getting people in and out, the game day experience is fun and varied and I can only hope that VT can reach Penn State's level of success. $700 million dollars. Geez.

My sister-in-law is a PSU grad and she and her husband hosted us. They were playing Michigan State that day. The game was close in the 3rd quarter and MSU was driving on 3rd down. It was a point in the game where people would have been raising hell in Lane Stadium. I instinctively stood up to make 3rd down-worthy noise and turned around. To my surprise most of them were sitting on their a$$es! So I started waving my arms signaling everybody to get up. For a second they just looked at me like I was nuts (see picture for what I was wearing 😆). But I guess I shamed them enough that they started getting up and joining in.
