For all the talk of ESPN controlling everything
According to Yahoo Finance, as of this morning, Disney's stock is up a whopping 0.13% in FIVE YEARS.
Holy crap.
They are so exposed to someone muscling in on college sports. Cmon Bezos, Musk, Netflix, whoever...just kill the mouse

They don't give a crap about the sports (as is obvious from the college consolidation), but they do make very good use of all the programming to advertise their parks, ships, movies, shows, and merchandise.
I think the shift to streaming and all the upfront costs really set them back, but they are certainly not hurting for money. I think they are due for a new CEO in another year so we will probably see some business strategy shifts at some point.
But back to ESPN, yeah the mouse is not giving away anything. They own college football and they like owning it.

and amusement parks that is holding Disney stock back. They've probably turned the corner though.

It's their movie studio and entertainment division that's losing money.

But I'm not sure how well they'll do if they keep raising prices. Those parks are becoming less accessible to a growing percentage of Americans.

But then again it feels like almost everything has degraded in quality since Covid, especially service based industries.

He tells me that before the pandemic, Disney World ran like a well-oiled machine. But when they shutdown the parks for the pandemic and laid off and furloughed all the park employees, many of the employees who knew how to run the parks never returned after the parks reopened. And even now 4 years later the parks still aren't able to run like they did before the pandemic shutdown. The pandemic basically broke the parks beyond repair.
