I think Disney loves ESPN because it's more ways to advertise

They don't give a crap about the sports (as is obvious from the college consolidation), but they do make very good use of all the programming to advertise their parks, ships, movies, shows, and merchandise. I think the shift to streaming and all the upfront costs really set them back, but they are certainly not hurting for money. I think they are due for a new CEO in another year so we will probably see some business strategy shifts at some point. But back to ESPN, yeah the mouse is not giving away anything. They own college football and they like owning it.
