have enough impact where Disney/FOX/whoever is going to pay the premium they're paying now for those championship games, and if they're not paying big bucks to the conference for the rights, why even have them? It's not like they're some kind of priceless heirloom that we need to hold onto. They've only been around since the mid 90s, and the ACC's only been staging one since the 2005 season. And, they're not like a conference basketball tournament, where theoretically some team from the bottom half of the standings that has no business winning the conference could come out of nowhere and go on a run to take the crown. And, again, except in very specific scenarios, the players and coaches won't even really want to be there if they already know they're going to be in the CFP field, because it's just one more potential loss. You ask any of those guys, they're almost certainly going to want to let their regular season resume stand on its own. You just wind up in a situation where nobody wants them and there's no reason to have them.
