I disagree with the premise that nobody will care even when the field

expands to 24 teams. Yes, both P2 teams participating in the game will likely make the playoff field. That isn't why people might still care about the game though. If a team is borderline from potentially either hosting a 1st Round game or receiving a 1st Round bye, then winning the CCG could be enough to move a P2 team high enough in the final poll to achieve that goal. Likewise, it would also mean another team (dare I say an ACC team, Big XII team, or P2 at-large team from the opposite conference) has been bumped out of that slot. In some ways, it may not be that much different than Bump Day for the Indianapolis 500.
