I believe that is the balance that the SEC/B10 are trying to balance. I believe both wouldn't mind staying put, however they know if they try to separate from everyone else, they risk losing a bulk of VT fans (plus other school's fans that have decent/big football fan followings) who will just not watch SEC/B10 games and watch whatever VT/other schools' games are on and that's it (or stop watching at all).If VT/other schools' fans are in the SEC/B10, they have more interest to watch that conference games, especially if they are trying to earn a spot in the conf champ game/play-off spot. I think that is the key the media companies/B10/SEC are trying to decide - unless they say screw it and start kicking teams out of the conference and want just like 16 teams. They may lose money overall, but could possibly increase the per-payout (however, they may alienate enough people to watch the excitement die some for their football while the other schools could ban together and have 64 teams involved to cover those fan bases).
