It’s much like Virginia Tech fans that want to play an SEC schedule for 🏈, be very very careful what you wish for! Playing them in the NCAA playoffs or tournament, is not the same as playing them all the time in the regular season. Consequently, I get the hold the ACC together and let’s just win more, especially in 🏈. SEC 🏈 is going to be brutal with Texas and Oklahoma in there now, sometimes emotions overrule brains.

This is not a shot at you manassas, several people have made this statement. I would love someone to explain how "not football driven" expansion will increase payouts. Football is the money maker. Maybe there are no football schools that will bring enough to expand a conference, but in what universe are networks going to pay the kind of money (say $70M for example) to an additional conference member team that only brings a basketball, baseball, soccer, etc. program? Those don't pay the bills. Other than March madness, the interest in college basketball is declining imo, so that can't be the money maker. The only way I see other non-revenue sports being a factor would be a total breakaway by the top 60 or so schools from the NCAA.

BIG viewership. Do you just watch VT games only or other ACC games? A UNC vs Alabama game would draw more viewers nationwide than a UNC vs FSU game for example. The SEC in particular has more than enough football brands right now. That's why I don't think football will be the main criteria and the other thing I said was a school would have to have the money to survive a half share for X number of years. Schools would have to decide if they can afford moving to the P2.

I don't really understand you point here. Alabama will get good rating regardless. Let me ask you this, would Alabama football at UNC or VT or UVA get better ratings?

UNC can't fill their own stadium, they probably wouldn't watch their team get slaughtered by Alabama. Alabama would have as many fans at UNC as the home team. VT has a very passionate and loyal fan base who would bring more eyeballs from TV sets than UNC for a football game, that is just being realistic and looking at past ratings. To add, can you imagine the scene at VT for a home game against Alabama compared to UNC? I believe that is the balance that the SEC/B10 are trying to balance. I believe both wouldn't mind staying put, however they know if they try to separate from everyone else, they risk losing a bulk of VT fans (plus other school's fans that have decent/big football fan followings) who will just not watch SEC/B10 games and watch whatever VT/other schools' games are on and that's it (or stop watching at all).If VT/other schools' fans are in the SEC/B10, they have more interest to watch that conference games, especially if they are trying to earn a spot in the conf champ game/play-off spot. I think that is the key the media companies/B10/SEC are trying to decide - unless they say screw it and start kicking teams out of the conference and want just like 16 teams. They may lose money overall, but could possibly increase the per-payout (however, they may alienate enough people to watch the excitement die some for their football while the other schools could ban together and have 64 teams involved to cover those fan bases).
