NIL is a beast that needs to be tamed.

Stech, as for limiting the size of staff, it might be possible. Paying players as employees will have numbers set by bargaining with players unions. But as to limiting NIL and coaching salaries, the courts won’t allow it. The lawsuits are likely already written and waiting for the University’s name to be typed into the space designated for “Defendant.” There are going to be some “corrections” to the system in the coming years: The transfer portal will cool down when these players are required to sign employment contracts. NIL sponsors will become more cautious and conservative when a few of their 5 star “sure things” pull up lame and fall into obscurity. (New field of business insurance.) We really don’t know what the NIL arena will look like, even next year. There needs to be a substantial oversight army and painful penalties for crimi-NILs.

So w/ no draft, no limit on staff, no limit on NIL, you have 2-4 teams 4 NC
