You sure about that? UVa is small by B1G standards.

B1G presidents know it’s easy to be selective with 15k undergrads…and know UVa’s supposed academic prowess gets much harder when you have 2-3x the enrollment. They also know that UVa - even with a flagship medical school - has a relatively small research program by B1G standards. And roughly the same size as VT’s. The reason the B1G has remained strong and relevant - even with all of the outward population migration - is the sheer size of the schools and living alumni. He understand the power - financial, political and media - that comes with numbers. By those measures - especially in light of VT’s inroads into the NoVa business community - could make VT look more appealing when looking at 2040, not 2010. But again, I think every ACC school has at least 1 significant drawback with the B1G - and the SEC for that matter. Which is why all of the parsing on this board about who is the tallest midget is crazy talk.
