Stealth Attach?

It was heavily rumored that Oklahoma would have came into the SEC with Texas A&M. However Oklahoma administrators insisted the SEC take Oklahoma State too. The SEC refused and took Missouri. David Boren & Bob Stoops were those Oklahoma administrators back then, both known to be big B1G fans. Boren & Stoops were both gone this last SEC expansion round. There was also a similar change of the big honchos at Texas not long before that SEC expansion move. You remember Texas & Oklahoma plus Okie Lite and Texas A&M almost all headed off to the PAC. The Longhorn Network that Texas would not relinquish being the barrier that stopped that move in the 11th hour. Those old Texas & Oklahoma administrators had orchestrated that Pac move. As far as Virginia & Virginia Tech being a packaged deal. I have heard North Carolina and Duke mentioned as such a package. Both North Carolina & Duke are AAU. That makes both B1G candidates if North Carolina can pull it off. However Virginia Tech is not AAU. Will the SEC come that far north? Clemson & FSU would be big SEC prime choices with little chance of the B1G getting them. Georgia Tech left the SEC in early 1960's, I have heard they can never return. No one can if they leave the SEC. So Miami is probably the only other southern SEC candidate. Miami is a commuter school unlike other SEC members. So the SEC might come north taking North Carolina State & Virginia Tech. The SEC has already refused Okie Lite and West Virginia. The SEC is also not taking Big 12 Texas church schools.

Thing is, Phil Knight is 84 years old.

If I had to guess, the B1X's next move depends on when ND finally commits
EDGEMAN 07/17/22 09:38 AM ET
When ND jumps, it will be to the Big 10.
Atlee Hokie 07/17/22 09:49 AM ET
Pretty clear money is a main driver for ND, so...
