Phillips came up with that date back in 2022 when the window for ESPN to resign the ACC TV Contract first opened up. ESPN has now not resigned for at least two years. If ESPN fails to resign by next February? What will Phillips do besides just keep on extending? The ACC will not lawsuit ESPN because they do not resign by Feb. 2025. June 30, 2027 is the date the ACC TV Contract dies if ESPN does not resign. We are back to everything hinging on the GOR to get to 2036. . If the ACC TV Contract expires on June 30, 2027. That GOR would be the only thing left. However the ACC GOR has ESPN listed as the only Media Provider all over it. Here is what I think will happen in 2026 or less probably in late 2025. Clemson & FSU will just announce an exit from the ACC. Adding a court filing to their current lawsuit stating that the ACC has now failed to provide a media contract. ESPN would give that lawsuit further basis by publicly announcing they have no intent to extend that ACC TV Contract past 2027, because FSU & Clemson just left. This question then becomes the big one. Will the courts enforce a GOR that has no attached Media Contract? I think ESPN will then use their wallop with Disney to get a rapid judgement on that issue from the courts. Money is ruling this, nothing else. Anybody that thinks ESPN is interested in televising the BC's, Dukes & Wakes until 2036, is barking up the wrong tree.
