I played near the Red River as a child at grandparent's home in Garland, Arkansas. The large back yard bordered the Red River. They also owned a 180 acre farm in those fertile bottom lands. I can still smell the cotton poison. The Hokies & Cavaliers can play a football games as easily as Oklahoma & Texas maintained that game from the teens of the 20th Century through 1995 when the Big-12 was formed finally putting them again in the same conference. Oklahoma was an original member of the SWC. I think they left in the early 1920's.
