I disagree. The purpose of the playoff is to make money

The purpose of the criteria to be selected for the playoff is to ensure that it is subjective, which allows the SEC and BIG to get more teams in. All you have to do is compare it to the NFL. Same sport, professional league, very successful and popular model. The playoffs are earned based on records within their division and within the conference. The wildcards are determined consistently based on the results from games played. It's not based on polls, or subjective guesses as to strength of schedule. Lots of teams belong. But not all of them will get a chance to prove it because the money dictates which conferences will get more entries.
