Perception becomes reality

It doesn't matter if our 14 teams are projected to earn more the next 10 years. It doesn't matter that we've won 4 if the last 10 ball championships and have the second most football championships. Right now the perception is that everyone is about to leave. Ignoring the fact that noone is leaving for the Big12. Their GOR comes open again soon and we'll still be together. They are perceived to have momentum. They've also benefited from being a small conference in both payouts and basketball metrics. I predict both will suffer as they become a 16 team league.

there is no such thing as collegiality anymore with respect to expansion

Both schools are very rich. That doesn't hurt.**

It doesn’t help their football teams be competitive**

Are they going to give there money to us?**
Jasonh 08/07/23 09:00 PM ET
Yep. This plus survival of the ACC.
HokieAl 08/07/23 07:45 PM ET
We don't need more members if they don't add more than they take

If it happened, almost certainly would include 2 more West Coast schools
WestyHokie 08/07/23 07:37 PM ET
That's why the B1G took four.
HOO86 08/07/23 07:43 PM ET
Maybe the ACC could somehow snag the Pac12's Rose Bowl tie-in out of this.
LonghornHokie 08/07/23 08:05 PM ET
The Rose Bowl is a permanent CFP game now. No more tie-ins**
hokie_jayhawk 08/07/23 09:10 PM ET
Ah. Hadn't heard that.**

The BiG took 4 because they thought they'd lose them. ACC was offering 7**
4x4hokies 08/07/23 07:48 PM ET
If the ACC was offering 7, that makes me feel better about them.
Maroon Baboon 08/07/23 08:10 PM ET
If that's the case, then I say Bravo to the old-order ACC. When it all
VTBoar 08/07/23 07:25 PM ET
The ACC and Big 10 are the only two athletic conferences that make sense
Big12 guy 08/07/23 07:38 PM ET
ACC does not male sense in any way shape or form**
Vienna_Hokie 08/07/23 10:01 PM ET
I understand your position, as you would like to see the ACC only add teams
Big12 guy 08/08/23 08:18 AM ET
Expanding that dies nit increase per team payout ensures the end
