I understand your position, as you would like to see the ACC only add teams
that enhance football, and more importantly, more money. You are not wrong, but there might be a different way of looking at this that isn't wrong either.
I know it's a tough pill to swallow, but the ACC will not be a P2. The BIG and SEC already have all but a handful of the blue blood top football programs. That being said, the ACC needs to position itself to survive the next set of dominos.
We don't know if all of the mag 7 schools have an invite to the P2 or not. Based on the structure of the contracts, we may not know until the SEC or BIG get close to the end of their current negotiated contracts.
The only options for any school in the ACC is to get invited to the P2, or stay and make the ACC conference as strong as possible - for survival.
I have this opinion because in the B12, Texas wouldn't let the B12 invite Cincy and Louisville when they were available. They were against expansion unless it brought them more money and prestige. Then they left their conference mates in the dust.
The same thing happened to the PAC when ALL of the B12 teams were available, looking for a landing spot. The football powers did not want to expand, and the academic elites did not want any lowly B12 schools in their conference.
You guys are approaching this like Texas and the PAC, and it will not end well for those not invited to the P2. The non mag 7 sees this, and may just outvote all the schools that have applied to the P2. They want to make the ACC a landing spot, and not end up like the PAC, Big East, SWC, and the near death B12 of 2 years ago.

Maybe the ACC could somehow snag the Pac12's Rose Bowl tie-in out of this.
