My take

1. As I said, the 14-team playoff works well for the P2 because their champs will get byes, and they don’t want to devalue their conference championship games. That’s why the 16 team playoff is unlikely in my view. 2. Not sure about a conference selection committee. I think each conference will choose the AQ teams they are sending. Most likely, I think they’ll use conference standings with complicated tiebreaker rules. 3. Non P2 conferences don’t have much leverage here. Let’s say the ACC boycotts the CFP changes and tries to start a new non-P2 playoff instead. What would the Big 12 do? They’d have two choices: - Option 1: Join the ACC in the non-P2 playoff. This would likely generate a lot less money. - Option 2: Join the P2 and send a couple of teams to the P2 playoff. This would likely bring in more money and cut the ACC out of the national picture. You know which option Yormark would choose. 4. In my opinion, the only credible threat the ACC or non-P2 conferences can make is potential antitrust litigation. At least, this may lead to change the language and they may say the “top two” conferences get four bids and the third and fourth conferences get two bids, instead of specifying conference names.

Josh Pate, likely no change in 2025 PO seeding, 4-4-2-2-1-1 likely for 26.

The ACC has no such option. **

Going against the P2 is a technically possible but unrealistic option

I agree with your last statement, but to be clear,

That’s right, P2 will grab what they want, and eventually break off 🏈🏀4💵

If each of the P4 went to 18 teams, it could work well in the long run.
hokieZ71 02/22/25 09:12 AM ET
do you honestly think a P4 really exist anymore? **
VTCALS72 02/24/25 08:41 AM ET
A couple questions regarding your proposal.
VTHokie2000 02/22/25 09:27 AM ET
#1. Exactly, for football. But it matters for other sports.
hokieZ71 02/22/25 10:28 AM ET
I doubt you could come up with a strong enough sales pitch to convince VT
VTHokie2000 02/22/25 11:16 AM ET
What the heck? Why would that happen?**
hokieZ71 02/22/25 12:42 PM ET
As I stated previously it would happen because the ACC wanted to make sure
