You cannot fix this problem by throwing more money at it. Some version of

what they suggest is probably coming. But this will be in addition to NIL. Until the problems with NIL are fixed nothing will get better. Schools can overcome the loyalty bonus by simply offering more NIL. What the article suggests might have worked a few years ago, but NIL has come and been allowed to grow into a monster. Any solution must first kill the monster. Not that NIL can ever be done away with. But the form NIL has taken must be changed. NIL is not really about name, image and likeness. It is about paying players. And until that is fixed schools will continue to use NIL to outbid other schools for players and to pull players from other schools via the portal and higher paydays.
