If you look at my 14-team scenario in the thread below using the past season's CFP ranking, the SEC would have gotten SEVEN bids and the B1G would have gotten SIX. But making a number automatic will prevent the SEC and B1G from competing with one another and will also lessen the need for any kind of competitive OOC efforts from either of the P2. Moreover, some teams that are in the Top 4 of one of the P2 might rest players if they are locked into the Top 4 and aren't able to make the CG.
