What you have is a stark contrast......

between one news source trying to pimp a product it broadcasts and another news source highlighting the pitfalls and potential damage to its own business model. Both got one thing right. There are three main issues and they are governance(i.e., control), access and revenue distribution. People are naive if they expect the SEC and B1G to concede anymore than the bare minimum on any of those three issues. The bare minimum is the line necessary to gain the votes to pass their preferred plan and keep any potential antitrust and restraint of trade issues at bay. I have little, if any, respect for ESPN/SEC or FOX/B1G and the way they have pushed college athletics to this point. I have NO TRUST in either group to do anything that is in other than their best interest or to benefit the sport as a whole. My position on this is firm and unlikely to change whether VT gets a seat at the table or not.

ESPN’s what happened at CFP meeting in Dallas. B1G & SEC desire 4 Auto bids

Could be up to 13 of 14 positions locked to the conferences

Definitely 2 very different perspectives, based on 2 very different models

And neither one cares about the fans

Auto-bids for non-champions is a bad policy.
Maroon Baboon 02/22/24 02:56 PM ET
Agree, but does it really matter?

It’s hard for me to believe nonP2 would allow this, but maybe you want them
Stech 02/22/24 03:41 PM ET
Even if I was the SEC and B1G I wouldn't want it. It's just lame.**

Got to save public face when and if you break off. Unlike some here, I

It's a bargaining chip. They don't really expect to get 4 guaranteed spots
tarheelblue 02/22/24 04:03 PM ET
Could be, I think we will find out sooner rather than later.**
Stech 02/22/24 04:08 PM ET
ACC should agree to this as long as both P2's grow to (24) each ;-)**

Haha, but those that believe they will be included will probably do that.

USA Today “hated it” version of CFP meetings
