Surely not. I thought it was verified through OX that his appendix burst.
Got to love people that fall for that stuff. Not surprising for him.

Is a "rumor assface" like a tweet?

I thought he said that was a Twitter rumor, not verified.

Nope. OX said that was a possibility, not that it was the cause.

2 things: Jim Henson muscling through til septicemia and my crazy grad prof
I'm linking an old story summarizing Jim Henson's final illness, which he ignored until he was too sick, and that was before widespread antibiotic resistance. When I was in grad school, an INFECTIOUS DISEASE MD/PhD (!!!!) who had grad students and taught some of my lectures was ignoring symptoms despite colleagues, other MDs, telling him to slow down and offering to examine him. Later, he disappeared for some days only to return after hospitalization including cutting a drain hole about an inch up from between his eyes. He had a sinus infection, like Busch, that was just septicemic but caught AND chewing a hole through his skull towards his brain. They infused antibiotics into his sinus through the opening when it wasn't draining. He lived and the bullet hole type scar was a lasting reminder of his error and warning to us. If you get a sinus infection that gets worse, see your doc or an ENT!

100% preventable that's a shame

See...that's weird. I get that some guys don't like to go to the doctor...
But he was obviously engaged with NASCAR's medical team. They knew he was sick. So how did this get sideways?

He probably went to hospital where he got sepsis. Biggest killer in
hospitals/clinics.

Great question!

That's a huge question!
How can a race car driver, who has full access to doctors 24/7, die from that illness?
PhotoHokieNC PhotoHokieNC OP

We all - each of us - have a place on our dial where we ignore the
red line. He had access to 24/7 care but that didn't guarantee the caregivers were providing care.

Maintaining flight status as a Naval Aviator was very important.
We went to the flight surgeon whenever we were sick, and if we didn't go, someone we worked for would direct us to go. Besides, you don't want to blow out an ear drum because you flew with a cold...lol

If you keep the windows closed in flight the eardrum thing isn't a thing.
