Absolute favorite was Crossbow, but it was hard to find. Battlezone
was my go-to that was more accessible.

S/O to the arcade at Garden Spot Bowl in Strasburg, PA for the many hours my friends and I spent there in the '80s. Great memories. Burnt down in 2011. Never replaced. ** Edited by Maroon Baboon at 3/16/2026, 2:44:24 AM

Final Fight. Had more grunting than a ladies tennis match.

Space Invaders first. I wore out the one in Deitrick. But Pacman and
Ms Pacman got most of my money. I remember the town of Blacksburg had maybe 3 arcades at one time, all competing, and you could get 10 tokens for a dollar at one point. At that price, you could afford to play anything, haha, and I sure did. I love all of them.

Space Invaders. Joystick and a fire button I could handle. Asteroids
and later games had too much going on.

That was my problem with every home gaming console after the Atari 2600
Too many damn buttons. Gimme one joystick and one or two buttons. Either that, or a gun-like object you can point at the screen and fire. Defender was the first game that I just found overwhelming with too many buttons. Then all the Nintendo/Sega/Sony/Microsoft game consoles in the 35 years since then just keep getting more complicated.

Space Invaders could gnarl your index fingers.
