Lounge Poll: Bonfire with temps in 80s and 65% humid, is it nuts or OK?
Two members of my family are planning a backyard bonfire tonight when it will be 81 (86 right now) degrees at 9 pm, and humidity is currently 67 percent. My sunglasses fogged up when I just went outside. Are they nuts? Because I think they are nuts.

keeps bugs down, you just stay back 40 feet ..
I am about to light my bonfire which will shoot up 30 feet high. Nah, I will wait for the fall horse fence line clean up to get it to 40 to 50 feet high. It only last a few minutes. Now on to your serious question. Hell no at my house. Sure I can light it and step away. Eventually, I have to go out there and rake the hot coals. I never leave it burn overnight and have to hose it off. Yeah, way to hot with my safety measures.

If you live where it's super hot and humid during the summer, sometimes you
Just have to suck it up and make the best of it ** Edited by coshokie at 7/19/2025, 9:19:09 PM

Are there at least Smores involved... and of course bourbon... and maybe
A cigar? Of course only the smores need a fire ** Edited by turkeywinghokie at 7/19/2025, 8:01:51 PM

I think it’s nuts, but these guys say otherwise. (pic)

Nuts. A lot of old houses down here have fireplaces. Could be an argument
that is evidence of global warming, or evidence that people in the Keys have always been nuts, you pick. It gets cold enough for a fire about 2 days a year, so you have this very nice fireplace you get to look at, taking up valuable space, 363 days a year.

Bonfires are never a bad idea.
Just pull the chair back, pop a gummie and look for fire shapes.

No, but only if they are serving tomato sandwiches. TIC
