The PA Turnpike is ridiculously expensive.
My daughter made a trip recently with an EZ Pass registered to us. I looked up the charges because it's something she'll pay to us.
2 Hours on the PA Turnpike.....almost $31.

I once had extra charge for an 18 wheeler axle. Lady on phone clearly saw we don’t drive an 18 wheeler and removed it

I drive in the proletariat lanes on 66 every day. I go "against" traffic. In the afternoon, it would cost me $40 to go from 28 to Lee Highway (exit 69) if I used the express lanes. But yes, the turnpike is outrageous, dangerous, and poorly maintained. When my son moved from Erie to WI, it's the one thing I don't miss about going to see him.

it often costs about $15 to go 2 miles.....if commuters start at Gainesville and go to the beltway which I think is about 20 miles or so, it would cost about $85

When I see it's like $10 to go from 123 to Vaden, I just shake my head in woeful disbelief. I go from Arlington (exit 69 Lee Highway) to 28 to Westfields against traffic. Burns me that I leave at 3 and sit and the bubbles at 50, 123, and 243 every day and see cars flying by in the Express Lanes. They are not HOV3, either. My son and I go to concerts at Jiffy Lube Live. I'll buy his GF a ticket so we can HOV3 and take the express lanes. It's cheaper to buy the ticket than pay the toll and we don't have to sit in traffic!

at roughly the same time so they haven't made anywhere near the money they anticipated with the change. That was a 90/10 proposal when it came out - very few citizens were 'for' it. However, it was passed anyway much to the displeasure of the 90%.

I am grudgingly okay with it, for one specific reason
You can't cheat your way out of paying what you owe. It was close to IMPOSSIBLE previously to really police people in the HOV lane (or even HOV sections inside the beltway). With these rules and setup, though, you simply can't get away with riding solo -- and not having to pay.

My favorite new feature is the part in the mountains to where they now require trucks to stay in the left lane. Passing a truck on the right on a steep, curvy mountain road? What could go wrong? We don't have to use the turnpike to get to our house in Warren, but we did take to see our son when he was in Erie for 5 years. I don't miss that drive at all, especially in the Winter. When we finally transition to PA year round, we'll never have to even remotely consider the turnpike again.
