Standard but lately been buying Goodman's on rental units based on the advice of H&A guy. Says he put same unit on momma's house. So far very good results.

There are lik 3 companies who make compressors, 2-3 who make all the coils (condenser and evap). All the rest is relays, capacitors, etc..wrapped in the manufactures sheet metal and their logo.
You want to get an efficient compressor and unit, but after that...close your eyes and pick one. One caveat...make sure the installing contractor is decent, as that makes a difference. Also, make sure replacement parts are available...

Paid cash so came down to $6750

Mine was $14,000 as I added the air scrubber. Highly, highly recommend this.

I paid $10k for (2) 2-ton units 10 years ago with similar workscopes.

Took the old stuff with them. Parts & labor came to $5800. Carrier, not Trane.
