Roanokers, how safe is downtown at night?
Will I be able to walk from the Springhill Suites down by VT/Carilion school up by Elmwood and as far as the Link Museum?

You'll be fine safety wise, but it's a hike going back. All uphill
And over Jefferson Bridge. I'd Uber it, especially going back. I always roll out of downtown before midnight.

garage and coming out on Jefferson. That's a much better walk at night and takes you right to the parade ( starts at Jefferson and Elm). Starts there and goes down to Campbell hooks a right and goes down to City Market ( where Dickens of a Christmas will be going on).

So the edge of Elmwood park.is what a 1/2 mile to 3/4 from the hotel? Anywhere good to eat down there?

Is your friend.... generally the issue down in Roanoke is between people who know each other, but thats a cheap uber, and no risk.

It might be perfectly safe, but there has been a good bit of "we don't have a gang problem, no danger to the public" shootings in Roanoke. Generally, it has been very late at night, but dark comes early now, so you never know when something like that might happen.
