Posting History (2,896)

Makes sense, we are the 7th ranked team.

I hate NIL, mostly because it has nothing to do with "NIL" but it is what it is.

A lot of talk about rematches here…

…but the seeds are about fair ranking, right? Rank them properly and let the match ups fall where they will, or am I missing something?

I love his mention of Pete Yates

Yates lifted the program. He was an enforcer and still my favorite VT wrestler.

That's wrestling. 100 reasons why you succeed and why you don't.

He has one more year of eligibility, if he chooses to return I will watch with great interest.

His won his 62 Slam as an amatuer.

His left forearm was significantly larger than his right.

I thought the 3 point takedown would promote attacking...

...instead it seems to have turned the sport more defensive, with a decided lean toward prevention of a takedown, at least at the top programs. Thoughts?

Two questions.....

1) Will the Oranges dodge us again? 2) How will the purse winnings be divided? Some or all to the athletes or just to the school program? As most of you can guess, I think this event is great because I love dual meet competition. TYIA for answers to above. Go Hokies!

Totally agree.

As a spectator the best wrestling experiences I have had were great duals at the HS and college level. And dramatic dual wins sure have the teammates jumping up and down.

I hear you. Stanford takes us up to 7 teams, right?

If I understand you correctly, because the BIG is a great wrestling conference, those teams should care more about winning that tournament?

You sure about that?

Ask the recruits who visit NCSU and see those conference championship banners: "Did you notice them?" Yeah, they did. Then ask yourself "How many ACC Championships did VT win during the last 5 years?". When someone says "None in wrestling, VT's most highly ranked program", feel that burn. Feel it. Dresser's teams won the ACC every year from 2013-2018, six straight years. This used to be our conference. You talk like we gave it to NCSU because we focus on NCAA tourney points. Bull****, they took it away from us.

Should be a win (FINALLY) for VT, over NCSU.

But somehow State keeps schooling us. Later, everyone says it's OK because we score more points in the NCAA. They have the ACC banners and we have more NCAA tournament points. I say that's BS. You want to win a NCAA tournament? Start by winning your own conference. I love this Coaching staff but they don't hang banners for podium finishes and I am sick and tired of our ACC conference tourney crap shows.

OK, here's what I want everyone on the message board to answer......

Do we hold out ANYONE FOR ANY REASON against NCSU in the dual? I'll vote first: Hell no.

Your thesis is incorrect. You wrote.....

"All that to say this How are others in the room not trying to copy what they feel and see?" They all are. Few can. Teammates don't accomplish the same just by witnessing. National champs are 1) freaks of nature combined with 2) obsession to win and 3) great coaching. You need all three.

Arnie on the tip. Woods on the decency and honesty.

Great questions! ** Edited by HokieJay at 12/16/2024, 11:08:38 AM

I can't reconcile that heal either.

I've had an ACL reconstruction and you know what happened. The ligament ruptures and separates like a frayed rope. Surgical replacement of the entire ligament is the only repair option. Hard to believe the MCL can re-attach itself. I trust the professionals that it does, but man, it's a leap of faith!

Thanks! I would LOVE a shirt!

Sadly I missed the last event due to surgery. ** Edited by HokieJay at 6/16/2024, 7:19:28 PM

Epic part of our country.

My hikes up into the valleys at Jackson Hole were the best of my life, although I'm hard pressed to choose between Montana and Wyoming, both states pull me to them, always. I'm positive that when I die my soul will leave my body and go there, without me. ;-)

I pray for those astronauts.

The dependable Atlas rocket got them to the ISS but that Boeing Starliner has to get them back. Fingers crossed.

I would have crushed them like bugs on a windshield (disclaimer)....

... in the context of the exact wording of your question, which does not specify whether I am playing today in the WNBA or playing in the WNBA at the time of my prime. In the time of my prime they would have been toys and I would have gone home rather than playing them. Today, those gals be way too nasty for an un officiated pick up game.

Would like to hear your take on my admittedly speculative take below.

I’m hard-pressed to believe after all of these games where we’ve just scored runs and runs and hit the long ball vs so many good schools that suddenly there’s a pitching formula that we don’t understand. But if there was any pitcher at Georgia Tech that could shut us down, the recent series implied here IMHO.

The story is how did GT’s pitchers shut us down after being raked at VT?

GT starter Voyels appeared in all three games in that series and she lost the second game as a starter largely due to 5 walks due to control problems. But in her two relief appearances she was more effective than any of the other GT pitchers who pitched. Her game is offspeed breaking ball and today had enough control to throw more edge strikes in heavy air. And then came the freshman reliever we did not see in the series. So, from the April box scores, Voyels was prolly the best starter option. Tonight she started, gave 5 walks over 3-4 innnings but only 1? hit. So my guess is the Lady Hokies came to swing away again but did not show patience and control the strike zone, and did not choose to shorten up their swing to get on base. I did not see how Cuse cooled our bats more recently, was that on offspeed also? Could it be that exposed or got us off track? ** Edited by HokieJay at 5/10/2024, 2:16:55 AM
