Better yet, a turpitude clause.
All you really need to do is ask the most minimally diligent “Do you have any pending legal actions to which you are a party?” Take it from there….unless you don’t WANT to know the answer.
Makes me rethink posts about some of VT’s transfers/recruits not making it past Admissions.

...with:
VILLANOVA, PA — A Villanova University student who plays wide receiver on the school’s football team has been charged with raping another student in a campus dorm room in December 2025, authorities said. The student, D’hani Cobbs, 20, surrendered after a warrant was issued and was later released on $250,000 unsecured bail.
Something in the water?

For those that don't know a UVA WR was charged with rape and abduction, and it happened back in August of 2025. Per their fans Elliott was literally singing the guys praises in his press conference just yesterday. I don't think he would stand in front of a podium and say good things about a guy that had a potential rape and abduction charge hanging over his head. If Elliott did know I'm not sure they will keep him as their HC. I get the feeling their fans would want him gone.

he does coach for the enemy but I'm confident they didn't know.

Credit there. Eleven win seasons are not by accident.

or enough to take other actions, however, if he had no clue at all that does raise questions surrounding his control of the program. A head coach cannot babysit every player 24/7 but, the best ones have a support structure that ensures their program is not blind sided.

It is a rape investigation and due to the protection of the individual details are not shared, defendants aren’t contacted etc.
lol Elliott’s control of the program because a player committed a heinous crime. The guy has issues, you really think he is walking into any football office going “hey there might be a charge against me.”
Do not start pointing fingers at a program that immediately removed Wallace Unamaba when evidence of domestic violence was shared esp when James Franklin’s Penn state days certainly had some stories about locker room behavior.

info and rumors leak and get back to affected parties. The crazy take is you thinking he was blindsided. I didn't point fingers at a program, I questioned the coach's veracity and, if he is being completely truthful, his control over his program. You seem very defensive at best and clueless at worst.

Considering it is hippa violations to release any information, considering no story is known. Was Edrines identity known at the time of the report? How soon was Edrine identified as a suspect? How soon did evidence collection match Edrine (which is typical in charge and arrest cases versus warrant cases during evidence collection)?
Even in your logic, AT MOST ACPD would likely only confirm a student and/or student athlete was the target in an investigation.
Not to mention affected parties (Edrine) would then possibly flee leading to no justice if notified. Moreover, perpetrators are not notified as it can possibly lead to further violence against the victim. Same logic applies to the football program. Law enforcement and the courts are not going to put victims in the path for further violence and pain given the report being filed.
So no, given the way this has happened and known facts, it is highly improbably any uva employee in the football program was aware of the identity, assuming they knew someone in the program was the target of an investigation.

If the allegations are true, then the guy should go to prison. Then Tony Elliot doesn't need to do anything.

Of investigation, it is unlikely UVA knew until charges were filed which was yesterday (day of arrest).
The big issue is the 5 month timeline, while that is common in sexual assault cases due to investigation/testing/etc, is what was known. Also no details are out, no stories or rumors, and given the charges, it is entirely possible it took dna identification to fully identify the alleged perp.
UVA has scrubbed him entirely, taken off all websites and not enrolled as a student. Elliott doesn’t seem the type to cover this, and given the swift response, this seems more a set in stone versus grey area/innocent versus guilty.
You are correct that IF anyone knew, uva would can them. All employees around students are reporting employees, required by law with any knowledge to report. So this means all athletics employees would be classified as reporting I believe as well. Direct breach of this would easily lead to a firing for cause.
Good riddance.

Is it likely that NOBODY on the team knew about this? Cause if other players knew and didn't say anything, that's also pretty damning for them as players.
