Would you also go to class if you got 4 million,a Lambo and dated one of
the Cavinder twins? They don't go to play school

Did anyone ever seriously think he was a real student?

You and I were on this board during the Vicks reign. Classes? Really?
No outrage then .

I guess you have to graduate and get NIL to get the no class luxury, lol.

If he was working towards a masters, there might not be "class".
Also the question was more about the week of the champ game on campus and classes. Not many schools were even in session that week. It was a bad question and a response that everyone blew out of proportion. ** Edited by TheFacts at 1/23/2026, 8:40:43 AM

To be fair, I got one as well as started work on a PhD...
and I was an Infantryman for 11 years as a NCO... Don't judge a book by their cover...

Wasn't this always a thing for last year guys in year five or more?
Not for every player, but some guys if they knew it was their last year and they were going pro just didn't bother to go to class anymore, because they don't need to be worried about being eligible next year, and they probably already have an undergrad degree. Guys that are looking to come back the following year, or enter the portal to go elsewhere actually have to at least pretend and take some classes that are transferable. I guess for me the super seniors in college football was always a farce.

Back in the ‘70s if an athlete didn’t maintain a certain GPA
They were excused from the team until they got that GPA up. Times have changed!

I think that's still the case, but isn't an issue. These athletes
are graduating at a higher rate than the rest of the student population. I think as a grad, Beck only had to take a bare minimum of hours, so he was likely taking one or two online courses.

Correct. Michael Brewer did the same thing here, FWIW.

But even back then, players with exhausting eligibility or were transferrin
would quit going to class that last semester. Some would leave school after the last game. Nothing new about that.
