I'm thinking Franklin looked at the schedule and had a huge grin.
For the first time in 15 years, he doesn't see Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, etc. or Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Indiana, USC, Nebraska, etc. on the schedule. He sees a strength of schedule far below what he had to deal with in the past decade and a half. The 2026 schedule is very manageable and should be exciting with a lot of wins. GO HOKIES

He actually had a pretty easy schedule when in the SEC - and other than OSU and generally one (or maybe two) other team, he had a pretty easy schedules at PSU. In large part it's why - despite the good records - he beat almost no winning teams at Vandy. And PSU was perennial #3 (or worse).
This may be the toughest schedule he's had in a long time (and maybe ever) relative to the strength of the team he will have in '26. We'll know better after the portal period.

Two things stick out to me:
1. We have to travel all over the dang country. Even though not every team will be good, that is a lot of traveling.
2. How do some teams have 9 ACC games while others have 8?? What in the world will the tie breakers look like next year. This is the most ACC thing ever.

Is the ACC trying to bury us? I'm out on left coast so I will go to Cal and SMU but man what is Phillips and ACC office thinking here. Away at Boston Berkeley Miami and Dallas that's a lot to ask of VT faithful.

I expressed my udder disdain for the schedule and the ACC brass in a post near the top of all the post.

doing that is the B10. Will be curious as to how the figure who goes to the championship game as 12 teams have the chance to go 9-0 whereas the other 5 teams can only go 8-0 at best. Perhaps the schedule is such that it precludes 2 of the 12 teams going 9-0. Guess we will find out.
