Any guesses as to the time frame for the hire? I am guessing January. Shore
up recruits before signing day in February. That's just my guess though.

If the new coach isn't in place with time to secure his coordinators ahead of the transfer portal, it will be a very rough start.

We will definitely not get Franklin. I'm thinking we go after Bob Chesney or already have. I hope so at least.

We should have just hired James Franklin immediately and named him head coach starting next year, and allowed Montgomery to continue coaching this team. Franklin could be an advisor and allow him to start recruiting immediately. Then VT would have a big jump on other programs in recruiting since that could be his main focus. Now we will be competing for a coach with Penn St., Auburn, Florida, UCLA, Arkansas, Oklahoma St., Florida State and others, plus the program's that their positions are filled from. Unfortunately, in the year we need a new coach, the coaching carousel is probably the most competitive ever.
