Recruiting 2026 VA Tech and South Carolina post high school
The 2026 recruiting cycle is here and Va Tech is right now ranked last in Acc when looking at average composite ranking of 86.23, UVA would be just ahead of us. South Carolina is tenth in the nation with a composite of 91.82. South Carolina has only 15 commits and Va Tech has only 9 commits. Do like the young guys that have been playing this year so wonder what we anticipate from a portal risk. Most of our risk the last few years has probably been 65 percent graduation and 35 percent portal but the portal losses have been huge because we were not able to build around as a team. So time will tell but still big difference where Tech needs to be in recruiting, tech was 87.41 last year and around 88 in 2024. Sometimes its more about what you do with these high school rankings but its evident the time to keep the depth is much harder so the balancing act needs a true strategy. Do you get 5 or 15 and commit to them financially and in the system and hope you have a few that can play earlier or how do you work with the string shorter on both sides now.

HS recruiting must be completely rebuilt after Fuente and Pry. It will not happen overnight.

Players aren't leaving PSU or USCe to come to Blacksburg in mass quantities

Not that uncommon now. Cignetti did similarly to Indiana.
