Has anyone thought about an AI Bot for a head coach?
Perhaps we can outsource our coaching staff to a foreign country, and use AI Bots to supply the ideas, play calls, manage practices, and provide answers. The off site staff could monitor the practices via video, teams meetings could be video chats, head coach could be a screen on the side of the field.
Why hire anyone from the United States to run VT football program, just out source it, and leave the tough decisions to AI bots. Then spend the money we save on smart helmets and communication equipment. Give the rest to the players. Hell with the huge savings on salaries, players would flock to VT, as the player income would be quite competitive.
Come to think of it, why have American football players at all?
If we outsource the players, just think of the money we save in NIL payouts?
And then, there is no need for electronics to coach remotely here in America.
WE just have players out-sourced, coaching staffs out-sourced, the games could be over seas, and the
players could just take classes online.
Then we have the games all Pay-Per-View, or on cable package, sports betting (through the school? someone should look into this.) and then the schools rake in the TV dough while saving YUUGE amounts of money.
In a lower cost country, we could pay the coaches and players literally peanuts!

former coach, I used to tell my husband that they should just provide a bucket and have people write down plays they want to see and then have the staff just pull one out and run whatever was written on the paper. Didn’t think the fans could do worse than the coaching staff in that first year. Was hoping that things improved drastically, but here we are.

In all seriousness, I guarantee AI will eventually get implemented, if it hasn't already begun. Imagine combining advanced analytics with cameras that observe what a defense is doing pre-snap and feed data to an AI "coach" that then performs statistical analysis on the fly about what offensive play would work best, and relays an audible to the QB in his ear.
As much as I hate it, it's coming.

...it has become a huge strategic advantage. Heck, maybe that's what Clemson was doing way back in 2011 when they whipped VT in the ACC championship game, when it seemed like the Tigers knew what play VT was going to run before the ball was even snapped.
But more likely, VT was just very, very predictable.
