Listening to the podcast and great podscast
Makes me wonder if T Sands and Bov just letting football decline without investment or holding any one accountable, without oversight.
As a result Build the fan base apathy to de emphasize. Looks like a slow death to me!!
We will see.

The 3 bosses between him and me grabbed the package and ran. We eventually got an inner-division interim head but I had to hold his hand.
I now read the same hand wringing as when Beamer's departure was imminent. Someone needs to make decisions and set a course accordingly. Where's VT's Lee Iacocca when we need him?

and most likely not until around Oct 15, if not later.
But there won’t be any communications from VT about Babcock, and perhaps Sands, until all the details have been worked out.

I am a college football fan above most other sports- including NFL, MLB NBA etc. and a Hokie- fan- but what is the reason we should pursue it if we have raise 200 million to be competitive?

1. Business Development. R&D and companies enjoy the football weekends and during that time forge strategiic partnerships
2. Branding. VT brand is communicated throughout the nation, much more effective than anything in academics.
3. Enrollment. Students throughout the nation come to VT to not only experience academic excellence but also the top level college athletics. No of applicants wil defintely reduce.
4. Economic impact to the region. The economic impact to the Region would be huge if VT football is not there. There were hotels, built entertainment venues developed from new river valley to roanoke financially planned for football weekends. Without that surge, many will go bankrupt. Not only that stores and retail to businesses.
Universities in 21st century are businesses not just centers of academics. Impacts are huge. VT is the only economic power in a region of the state, losing significant population, and one of the lowest salary per capita in the state. Without athletics and VT , it really sinks.

But am still not certain that it's worth 200 million pursuit if it's only an outflow- it has to support itself - maybe there is a number where it breaks even and is sustainable. It's an interesting time with paying players that are supposed to be students that have a main interest in pursuing professional sports instead of degrees. It doesn't really fit the stated purpose of an educational institution anymore. Maybe it will move back to the middle.

Only a fool would try to keep up. The only
payment professional college athletes should get is barbed wire up their ass.
