$2,845 was the average price on SeatGeek. So right off the bat, we're talking about re-sale market (which doesn't include all the attendees who paid face value).
Then, does the "average price" include all Listings, or only the actual Sold Tickets?
That being said, we can assume all the SeatGeek game-by-game values are apples to apples. So yes, yesterday was one of the most expensive games in college history.
Not a big surprise. Whereas many of the Clemson/Bama/UGA games suffered from "been there, done that", the Michigan fans have been waiting since 1997. Same thing happened with Chicago Cubs, and the World Series prices.
Doesn't hurt that Houston is a hub for United.

On the low end, if you want some Cheez-Its it will cost you $3.99, and Rold Gold Pretzels will run you $5.95. Want some peanuts? Come off $7.65. Need a bottle of water to wash that down? Well, all you need is $6.95 for that.
There’s something called “BuzzBallz” on the menu for $10.95, and then you get to the beer. Domestic bottled beer is going for $12.65, premium bottled beer $14.95, and premium draft beer is going for $16.55.

even look at the price of them. Went to Monday Night Raw in November and expensive beer made that a hell of a lot more fun than it would have been as a sober 40 year old man watching buffed, hairless men touching each other in their underwear.

other event, the cost of a beverage won't keep me from getting one. If I'm at a baseball game, I'm having a beer or so. I don't care what it costs. It's about the experience. Then I can whine about the cost later ;)

Which in the DC area is not really crazy if you consider it's two 12oz beers at $8 (take off 10% if you use a Cap One card). And a 24oz Goose Island IPA is like drinking five Mich Ultras that are not much cheaper.

They only time I do that is at baseball games.
Specifically at the World Series. I ate a $14 chicken sandwich and washed it down with a $16 beer. I don't mind doing stuff like that when I'm on vacation. But it's incredibly rare that I drink at Tech games. Waste of money.

I rarely go out to eat anymore. Prices are too high for my taste.

Magazine Sugar Time was Chris Colston. Not sure of his official position but I read a lot of his stuff. Sugar Time is in my office and I was reading it the other day. When I first saw you on here I was wondering if you were one and the same. I had kind if forgotten Colston. But you were probably a little young in '99.

As you articulated, the prices are very high. What was $35-40 for us with a tip is $50-55 now. Ridiculous. The other observation from a habitual diner- we seldom wait to be seated now, crowds are starting to shrink. Not a good sign, imo, for a lot of business owners this year.

Concession prices suck. I won't complain, AS MUCH, with Tech's after going to the Spectrum Center. The Spectrum Center's were crazy on another level. Popcorn & a bottle of soda for $20, a milkshake at the Chick-fil-a was $10, Personal Pizza & a bottle of soda was over $20 too. We ate at B-Dubs before we came in for the women's game Thursday night but Friday they got me for being there for all 3 games.

Never, ever got anything to eat. If I wanted to eat, I'd do it at the tailgate, before and after the game. Same with beer or soft drinks.

food and drinks are “free” and “unlimited” in the boxes fwiw
some of the clubs include food but not alcohol. sometimes the price of those tickets is less than $100 difference and comes with a nice bathroom, ac, heat, cover in bad weather.

I sit in South end zone outside club (not a box). Yes free food and non-alcoholic beverage next year but the required donation (seat license) is increasing 67%!!!!
I did the math and I couldn't eat enough food but who knows what the quality will be. Plus it will then take you an.hour to get food and you be missing the game because so many people will try and get their money's worth. And you will have even more people sneaking in (a real problem already).
Even with all the good things to come for the Hokies in 2024 football I'm not going to renew my tickets next year based on cost and game experience. I'm so tired of the loud pumped in music. We have two great bands. That should be the majority of what we hear.
Just a continuation of the downfall of college football. Becoming too much like the pro game.
