Lots of ground to make up, if ever.
VT is 8th in the ACC for those counting. ** Edited by Maroon Unit at 2/11/2025, 6:04:45 AM

If Whit actually gets a “bonus” for the football team going 6-6… well…

Agree, point of observation
When the AD cites, "we are committed to be a program of championships" however appears we are not sounds like our public relations/ branding seems to be not in sync.

That’s the whole point. Say something and do another.
Fans want to hear something good. They are slow to compare those statements to reality. WB is just trying to keep the gravy train rolling for as long as possible.

Roughly 20% of IU's wins over the past 10 years occurred in 1 season
It can happen.

What's worse is that on a macro level, VT/ACC is falling way behind, too
If your main yardstick is winning the ACC and then getting trounced in the playoffs, I guess that's possible. But even as VT struggles within the ACC, the top of the college football world is pulling away.

That's because of the power of compounding.
Keeping up simply means the gap grows at a slower pace.

Not disagreeing but Clem and maybe Miami
will be really good this year. I think Clemson could make noise in the playoff with their QB being better.

Maybe but seriously doubt they'll be any better than a early playoff loser.

Maybe, we'll see, but those two schools have much better football pedigree
Those 2 football programs have a large advantage over VT and the rest of the ACC (I don't buy into UNCheat).

That's what a losing record and a couple of 6-6 seasons gets you
