Posting History (109)

Hope the powers that be find the cash needed.

Very impressed with the roster build so far but this kid would bring Shawshank redemption type of hope going into next season

In the last 12 years

SC averages 31 wins per season, has 6 final 4s, and 3 titles.

Can someone show me a link to donate money directly to men’s hoops?

Thanks in advance. Appears we are lowballing still. Aren’t we only providing 3M through revenue sharing? At the Global NIL Summit run by @SilverWaveMedia, Blake Lawrence of @opendorse said conference average of revenue share allocated to men’s basketball for 2025-26: 1. Big East $5.7m 2. ACC $4.4m 3. B12 4.3m 4. B10 $3.2m 5. SEC $3.1m ** Edited by sbarron at 4/5/2025, 12:04:59 PM

Anybody see what Willard of MD said yesterday?

Basically blasted the AD and said he’s not signing an extension until there is legit commitment to the hoops program. Won’t see many head coaches be this honest. Kevin Willard on coaching rumors, contract status: β€œI've addressed it with them directly. I'll say this: Damon and I talked on Sunday night right before Selection Sunday. He gave me a term sheet right before Selection Sunday. I really wasn't focused on it. Been focused on this team and this. Damon's talked to my agent. I talked to Damon this morning at length about where we are. Obviously it's difficult right now because I think we know his situation. He's probably going to SMU, so it's kind of tough to negotiate with somebody that's maybe not here. But I need to make fundamental changes to the program. That's what I'm focused on right now. That's why probably a deal hasn't got done because I want to see -- I need to see fundamental changes done. I want this program to be great. I want it to be the best in the country, I want to win a national championship, but there's things that need to change. When you're at a place for three years and you put your heart and soul into it, you kind of sit there and say okay, wait a second for us to be really successful X, Y and Z needs to change and first and foremost, I need to make sure that we are where we are with NIL and rev share is not where we've been with NIL over the past two he years. We've been one of the worse, if not lowest, in the NIL in the last two years. So that's first and foremost. I also have to make a fundamental change where I can do the things that I want to do with my program. I wanted to spend an extra night in New York this year to celebrate Christmas with my team and I was told that we can't do that because it's too expensive. So I don't know how we can be a top-tier program and I can't spend one extra night in New York because it's too expensive. So there's fundamental things I'm fighting for for my team and my program. It's not so much about me. I want to make sure that whatever we do going forward we're successful and we're successful at the highest rate. So I am confident that we'll get things done. It's a little difficult right now, I'm not going to lie, but I'm confident that no matter who we're negotiating with at the end of the day, this program's going to be in a great spot and that's really my focus is this Tournament, this team, and this program.”

If Pedulla and Kidd both actually got over 500K…

You’d have to assume a competitive starting lineup will run you about 2.5-3.5 million dollars… 500K+ a piece for each starter. Then probably another 2-3 million total to fill out the bench. Need bare minimum 4 million IMO and that’ll get you at least a winning record/on the bubble hopefully. That’s assuming no projected starters get investigated by the feds two weeks leading up to the season lol

I just want minimum 2 year guaranteed deals

In which the player has to pay a buyout to transfer before the 2 year mark unless it’s extenuating circumstances. Too much to ask? Probably. Anything to have a semblance of roster continuity from one year to the next…. Like the good old days… ** Edited by sbarron at 3/19/2025, 5:49:39 PM

I’m in believe it when I see it mode when it comes to VT athletics

We purposefully/insultingly underfunded the men’s basketball team and got the results that come with it. Football has its issues. Lots of question marks. And for Babcock to still have a job after the results from football and both basketball teams the last 12 months… is it not fair to be skeptical that the higher ups actually care about being relevant in major college athletics? Seems to me unless we have a Joe Paterno type scandal go down, Babcock and the athletic department can coast to an easy payday.. The results are the results. Yet I’m not seeing any significant changes to improve upon our current situation. And yes, I did donate to NIL leading up to the football season. I wish I could’ve donated directly to the men’s basketball team but there didn’t seem to be an option to. It’s things like this that have me questioning the entire operation we have going.

Is tech a tournament team with…

A starting 5 of Pedulla/Rice/Collins/Nickel/Kidd? I say probably… ** Edited by sbarron at 3/17/2025, 8:35:43 PM

I’ve got news for you

Tech will be outside the top 10 in the conference in NIL/Rev sharing… I saw UVA saying they’d have about a 7M budget. Which I don’t believe we come close to.

8 million min

Pay 8 guys 750K a piece for 6 M then another 2M to fill out the roster

Pitt to decline NIT. Smart.

In this era where you are guaranteed to lose 50% or more of your potential returning players each offseason, makes zero sense to waste time on consolation games. Unless the NIT gives the champ a fat stack of NIL money I can’t see the NIT lasting much longer.

Wait, aren’t you the guy that’s made multiple usernames on 247 and got

The ban hammer from 247 because you copy and pasted their inside info over here? And then when you got banned at 247 you made a different username and act like nobody doesn’t notice it’s still you? This season was about as big of a clown show as you are. That’s not trolling. That’s speaking the truth. The AD should be ashamed.

Yes I have. Thanks for asking.

Now what’s that have to do with the athletic director not doing a good job?

Because usually when revenue sports squads have losing records the coach

Gets fired. They announced the same for UNC/Syracuse/BC/Wake Hopefully the extra NIL money this offseason is enough to move the needle. ** Edited by sbarron at 3/3/2025, 6:24:32 PM
