Hostage by Notre Dame. Punt them from conference. Force them to join big10
This hope that ND joins is idiotic. They enjoy conference at their discretion for other sports. Let them make the ncaa tourney in Olympic sports as an independent. For the acc commish to say he “gets it” with ND and independence only adds to their leverage. Let them go. They aren’t helping the paltry payout per school now so what’s the benefit to the acc?

related to the ACCN less whatever extra gate receipts we receive from them playing us in Bburg. There could be some attrition of revenue in the ACCN due to games televised and/or replayed on it. Also, any exit fees paid, but that would be a one time payment.

If...if ND has decided to join the Big Ten, kicking ND out would cause the ACC to forfeit the exit fee, any possible GOR settlement money and any damages for ND breaching the contract that says if it joins any conference for football before 2036, it has to be the ACC.
I think that under this scenario, Jack Swarbrick would be smiling on the phone while Jim Phillips told him the ACC is kicking ND out of the conference.
If ND has decided to stay independent, then the same will apply and ND will put its minor sports in the Big East

How much? The B1G types are out here saying that the money would make it worth it for ND to jump in spite of the ACC payout. I genuinely don't know how much it would be.

of GOR, or about $210M, and then the lost revenue from 5 games per year. Say $2M per game or about $140M over 14 years. All total could be as much as $450 to $475M. Just a SWAG on my part but those are all legit cost components of getting out.

ND on football schedules across the conference, both exposure on television, and increase in ticket sales when ACC teams get to host them. I think ACC has benefitted from the arrangement, even though it was always highly unlikely they would join for football.

I don't blame ND. I blame ACC leadership for pinning our vision on
forked tongue Notre Dame. I never liked the deal, but we are stuck in it until 2036. Just wait them out. If they go to the B1G they will owe us some decent money.

That $60M difference per team versus big10 and SEC will be $600M over ten years. Acc gets left behind. ND join for all sports if you’re a member of the ACC. Instead we wait and we wait for the prom queen to say “yes” while she considers remaining a virgin alone or going out with someone else in the future.

ND never said they were joining the ACC for football. The ACC has a tone of problems, mostly the small private schools, ND deal was one of the ACC’s rate smart moves.

Perhaps I was too harsh. But let me state it this way:
If what you are saying is correct, the ACC basically heard what they wanted to hear and believed what they wanted to believe, and ND let them do it to their benefit. When did ND tell them? In what forum? I never heard this reported so directly. Usually it is couched in language such as "we desire to continue our independence." But I never remember it being reported that not join--ever.
Either way, I've always blamed the ACC for all of this, not Notre Dame.

Which was a seat in the BCS and now football playoff. Notre dame got what it wanted, which was a home for its non revenue sports.
Now the landscape is shifting. Notre dame has stated they’re looking for a media rights deal that will generate 100 million dollars a year. They’re also not interested in being equal members of the SEC or B1G.
So can an arrangement continue where Notre dame gets the revenue it wants being a non football member in the ACC or big 12?
We don’t like it. But Notre dame keeps the ACC at the big table for the football playoff. As of now, there isn’t a setup to preserves that if the Irish leave. The future question is how ND, the ACC, big 12 and Pac 12 merge to form one or two conferences to compete against the SEC and B1G

Yup. We're not privy to it all. But I find it hard to believe that the ACC
would be d+++riding Notre Dame so hard if Notre Dame gave them a hard no rather than perhaps a wink-wink behind the scenes in this process.
But then again, maybe not. The ACC was never very good at picking up social cues.
It doesn't even matter anymore. The ACC needs to make its own way without ND. It's just too bad that it was even a consideration for all this time.
