Should the hit on Harrison Jr of OSU been targeting?
I thought it was targeting since forceful contact was made to the head of the defenseless player with the other player's head/shoulder. I only found the 2019 targeting rules posted below and that states that targeting is forceful contact to the head or neck with the fist/forearm/head/shoulder. I saw helmet-to-helmet contact and I assert that it doesn't matter if the defender led with his shoulder or his helmet.

I don't think the play necessarily impacted the outcome of the game but I'm more concerned about player safety.

With these targeting calls, one can make an argument a physical RB is targeting by lowering his head to gain extra yards but we know that is never called. Unless a defender truly leads with the helmet or obviously intends to take an offensive players head off, then there should be no targeting. Helmet to helmet contact happens all the time so that shouldn't be a criteria of targeting.

I thought it was real time but on replay that hit has to be allowable if defense has a chance to defend. As far as player safety, tell the QB not to hang him out to dry with that floater. And, I do think him going out impacted the game result...OSU wins with him in.

I'm not sure what is/sin't targeting anymore. The no call on last 25 second
seconds appeared to be but they didn't call that either.
The one on Harrison... I'd lean no, but it still depends on which side of the bed the official woke up that morning.

Remember, the replay officials overturned the targeting, which means they saw proof that it wasn't.

remember media companies see college football as ONLY about 12-15 teams and the rest yawn. You can name them

With his helmet at all. The only helmet contact was from Harrison’s head coming toward the ga guy from the hit
