Have we picked up a starting player yet from the portal?

Poppa Whit lost his job and decided to use his severance to feed his other family.

We also didn’t have enough big bodies in the paint to compete. That problem if anything got worse. Can I say had no expectations yet am disappointed? Maybe the roster is still open?

Maybe he's coming here for academic or personal reasons, and maybe we're getting a role player at a low cost. I doubt we're paying him $2MUSD. And we need some willing back-ups.
I remember him annoying me when we played Elon. So that's probably a good thing. He played hard and was scrappy and maybe a little mouthy. Maybe I'll like that when he's on our team.

And they’re a better program than we are

and will be one of our two starting wings. He would replace Bedford in our line up and IMO has the potential to be a breakout scorer. Top 50 player coming out of HS.
Heide could start in place of Gurdak for anyone who anticipated Gurdak as the starting 5. He looks like a better and more athletic defender and shot blocker than Gurdak and is nearly as good finisher in the paint. If we land some great 5 or stretch 5 Heide would still be a rotational piece and play a lot of minutes.
Atak is a good prospect as well, having a good season as a true freshman at OU, He is a rotational piece at 4 behind Hansberry. I am not sure who he can guard at this point without watching more video. But, he averaged over 12 minutes a game for OU and had an overall PER of 19.8 which is impressive for a true freshman playing that many minutes. He shoots a lot from behind the arc, making 41.3% of his attempts.
All 3 are solid pick ups regardless of whether they start or play in our rotation, and should fit well around our core 3 returning starters. That said, we still need more depth, particularly a back up point guard for Hammond, and another Big.
I’m not sure what CMY has in mind for Hull, but I have no expectations of him. Guess we’ll see when the time comes.

offensive set. Hull hit two 3's against VT. Maybe he can provide 5-6 minutes a game.
( BTW, see Will's post about Schutt's final game average vs. Hulls).
Will he start? I hope not but worst case scenario, he's another SG for practice.

close to him. When he was defended he missed, and rarely got any attempts. Schutt has a much quicker catch and release motion than Hull, and you remember how hard it was for Schutt to get his shots off in this league. If Schutt struggled with that Hull will struggle even more to get his shot off. I really don’t see Hull as more than a practice player for us.

Pasha is much much more talented. I regard Hull as a practice player unless he’s plugged in situationally to take a 3 point shot. He’s no threat to attack the basket (not from what video I have seen of him).

suddenly came into the picture and all those minutes were promised to Avdalas in order to get him to commit to VT. Pasha would have split minutes with Hammond at point guard if Avdalas had not come. Pasha was not a 2 guard, not a 3 point shooter, and didn’t fit that role very well in CMY’s system, so it went as it did. He’ll do fine ar Duquense if used in the right way. JMO!
