.500 the rest of the way gets you 20 wins...
Sounds like someone who is 14-5 is in great position

That's not going to get us in the tourney and I think you know that.
Better go on a pretty good winning streak shortly, on the road and at home. Also, better win a game or 2 in the ACC tourney. Not sure we will be consistent enough and I really like this team.

20 wins before ACCT will likely get VT in

at 9-9 in ACC play, will have to win a few road games, at least 2
conference road games for resume...have some Q3 home games. I believe road are all potentially Q1. Lose to Duke and we would need 2 just to get to 9-9. 10-8 we are in, 9-9 firmly on the bubble, and you know how that usually goes.

Well, if you feel that is the threshold then I will reset my expectations.
Makes me feel a bit better. Thank you.

I mean, team is good enough to be playing for a higher seed in late feb..
…not Battling to get off the bubble as we are set up for - minus the team stacking some road wins, which MY hasn’t done in three years. That is a disappointment.

Narrator: VT was .500 on the road last year

Last year was a joke vs this year's schedule. When it matters, we lost...
...on the road, and I'm specifically thinking about those last two NIT teams who both could of been in the Tournament if they could win a road game that mattered. ** Edited by GoldCoast at 1/17/2026, 4:30:51 PM ** Edited by GoldCoast at 1/17/2026, 4:31:46 PM

Imagine losses in the close wins. We are closer to our best case scenario
than our worst one.

Yes but the SMU/Stanford losses were improbable at the end
Half court shot and 12 point tanking that needed everything to go the way of our opponent (and certainly we assisted by not closing the door). Our close wins were back and forth games that could have gone either way but no miracle ending. Play out the end of the Stanford and SMU games 100 times and we win 95 of those. It is what it is but personally I think we’re closer to a 16-3 squad than say a 12-7 team
