Lawal is too old to waste a draft pick on, he needed to show that he’s more than just a leaper this year as he’ll be 23 on draft night. He can certainly fly but he’s never been a rim protector and at 6’8 and skinny he can’t play down low. Hammond will play summer league as a defense first PG before going to Europe. Johnson is a wildcard, if he develops his shooting he might have a shot. I do think Hansberry has potential if he can develop his outside shot, he does a lot of things well which is something that competitive NBA teams appreciate. Neo will be a first rounder but no guarantee thst he will even stick. Lawal, doubtful for NBA, certainly pro ball somewhere though. Hansberry very undersized , no chance. Johnson no chance. No knock on any of those guys but the NBA is an incredibly club to get in. It aint NFL.

But Lawal definitely has 2nd round potential. The second round is littered with people who have an elite skill that need things to break the right way to stick in the NBA. That's Tobi Lawal. There isnt anyone more athletic than him in all of college basketball. That's his elite skill. Now...he is a terrible passer. A serviceable, if not inconsistent, shooter. Not much of a post game to speak of and he finds himself lost away from the ball defensively far too often. If you fix the skill parts above (passing, add some post moves, fine tune the shooting) then youve got someone like Larry Sanders who could be an athletic rim protector who will have some gravity rolling to the rim If you dont fix those things, then hes like hundreds of other 2nd rounders who dont stick If I were his agent, I would be putting out hints that he prefers playing back in England/Europe to playing in the G-League so if you want him youre going to have to select him. Not saying thats a surefire way to get him selected, but it does weed out those who arent serious about giving him a shot. I dont see Hansberry getting any sort of NBA looks, 2nd round or G-League even...he is undersized as a 5, doesnt shoot it well enough as a 4, doesnt really score well enough in isolation in the post and his age (like Lawal) is working against him. Unlike Lawal, he just doesn't have an elite skill to market. Hes a wonderful college player though, and VTs second best player...above Lawal

He is a below average shooter and passer, meaning he can't be used as a space 4 or a pivot point for the 2nd unit. There may be more NBA teams willing to bet on him if he were 2-3'' higher, but NBA in general has very low interest in these senior players. Lawal is a good college player, but I just don't see him survive NBA long term.

You're not drafting 2nd rounders for stars, even though a few of them have become stats Teams draft on potential, not what theyve shown they can do at this moment. You need to have an elite skill, even if other parts of your game are flawed. Make no mistake, if anyone has a 47 inch vertical and already is a good defender and shooter they'd be drafted in the first round Teams can make athletic players become better skill players. But they cant make skill players become athletes. Its going to boil down to whether a singular team feels they can improve his skill and maximize his athleticism Like I said, it might not happen...but it wont be because they dont feel he can become a star
