Hate to see anyone lose their job, but I view it as encouraging that MY is willing to make changes after a rough season. I also think that it may indicate some of the issues with talent acquisition and player evals went beyond just NIL. It will be good to get some new energy into the staff and program.

I would think one question that could continue to pop up during the offseason is "Does the amount of change MY makes (or doesn't make) to his staff give any indication on how long he plans to continue doing this job?" At least it is human nature for people to want to read the tea leaves.

What I'm saying is if the Wofford job comes open Kevin Giltner would be a candidate to take that job That wouldn't be MY making a change, but a change that he would need to replace

his staff would end up taking the job. However, I am not sure that necessarily changes the potential question being asked each offseason. For example, if MY only makes 1 or 2 changes to his staff, then the tea leaves could be saying that he is close to retiring so no reason to rock the boat at this point. Whereas, if he basically makes wholesale changes to his staff, then the tea leaves could be saying that he has a few years left in the tank so shake things up to try to make 1 more good run at it before riding off into the sunset.

What was wrong with the team this year wasn't Christian Webster or any other staff members (unless someone on the staff was telling Triumph they wanted less NIL) He made the move because it's a good time to do so. You don't make those kind of staff moves with 2 or 3 years in mind. It's going to be about connections for 2026 recruits. Webster was active in DC and Baltimore and VT already has a presence there and other staff members also recruit that area. They need someone in Atlanta/NC. Or they need to move Giltner to SC/NC and nowhere else. The new assistant will also need to be a POC...which will enrage racists for sure, but it's just the reality of being a D1 staff and needing to recruit players of color

If you are in an athletic department that is run worth a piece of crap, then if there are some landscape changes and perhaps people aren't the best fit, then you'd expect upper management (Whit) to see it coming or make the slightest contribution to fix things. My take is that Mike Young is a great coach whose one possible shortcoming is recruiting or being a slick salesman. Whenever there is a change or where a slight bit of help from a competent organization would really help, they certainly can't count on it from Whit. He is just a useless piece of garbage, that just can't be counted on to figure anything out or be the least bit helpful. Whit been caught behind the curve and dancing around like a yo-yo for at least six years now. Maybe some of this is on Mike Young, but it is COMPLETE BULL**** to see GMU and VCU playing for their tournament title with VT castoffs. The one bright spot in the past six years has been Mike Young miraculously cobbling together a team of Wofford 2 star transfers and winning an ACC tourney. He is miles ahead or Whit, Pry or Sands in this whole screwed up system and has a lot of goodwill with me. None of these other three clowns do.

Just because people donate and attend games doesn't mean they are giving Whit "every benefit of the doubt". That's how YOU handle things and see the "terms of the argument" but that's not how everyone else handles their business and/or chooses to express their concerns. I guarantee there are people Whit would love to never have to see at a game again or have to acknowledge as a donor. Bowen being better than we realized or rather, because his is now riding in a yacht instead of a rowboat being paddled by a blind, idiot? I know that realignment and NIL has thrown a curve at everyone, but I think that if VT were being run properly, we should be able to get a notch above VCU in basketball. We should be able to to pirate the 6th or 7th man off the FSU or Pitt roster, who is usually more talented and athletic than our starters. What is true for VT is somewhat (sadly) true for other ACC teams. There is no reason the hoops should have been this bad this compared to the Big East. There is just a bunch of entitled weak ass management is our league and we are very high on the incompetence list.
